Depalletizing of cartons

A major industrial customer from the paint/chemical sector uses a changing selection of boxes, which must be automatically recognised and depalletized for storage purposes.

The area gantry robot from the GENIX FP150 range shown in the photo depalletizes unmixed pallets at a rate of over 200 boxes per hour. The position and orientation of the boxes are determined here by an extensive combination of laser and IR imaging technology. The pallets are automatically supplied to and removed from a total of four robot depalletizing stations. In order to achieve the maximum possible output and flexibility with this robot, the gripper has been designed such that it can handle one or two boxes at the same time. The RO-BER scope of supply included not only the gantry robot incl. gripper, but also the product conveyance system and the safety equipment for the robot. Due to the tight spatial conditions, an automatically closing roller door was used in place of a safety light barrier.
